Social Studies 7

Students read about Britain's response to the rebellions of 1837 and 1838.  We discussed The Durham Report and The Act of Union, explored the pressures this placed on the First Nations, and the consequences of the LaFontaine-Baldwin Alliance from various perspectives.

Students were given another current events package including articles on Mother's Day, The Skilled Unemployed, Unemployed Youth, and a mapping activity on Ireland.

Social Studies 8

Students continued presenting their events/people on the Edo and Meiji timeline critical challenge.  As students present we have been relating these situations/people to the geographical influences of Japan.  We will complete the presentations of the timeline tomorrow, and students will begin an analysis of continuity and change related to these eras.

Health 8

Students are into their third day of career exploration.  Students have worked through a few sites from CAREERInsite to help them do an interest inventory and determine which jobs match best with their interests and abilities.  They then chose one career to investigate in depth, including the academic requirements for it.
